  • Job Summary

    The Equine Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of all aspects of the extensive Equine program at camp. Working directly with the Equine Director, they will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality programming are met in lessons and stable management.  The Equine Coordinator will co-supervise the Counselors and all staff in their roles as they relate to the horseback riding program.  The Equine Coordinator must have the ability to train and supervise staff and campers in the areas of riding lessons, stable management, trail riding and horse and burro trekking.  S/he must have a comfort level in evaluating horses for use in lessons and matching riders to appropriate horses.  

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Extensive documented experience teaching beginner, advanced beginner and intermediate horseback riding. 
    • Certification preferred.
    • Ability to successfully complete two day “Seasonal Equestrian Staff Certification” (Certified Horsemanship Association) held during Staff Session Training. 
    • Ability to supervise staff and participants and manage horses and equipment involved in a multi-level horseback riding program. 
    • Must have a passion for working with young women in the out of doors!

    • Maturity in problem solving and decision making
    • First aid and CPR training
    • Provide proof of USA citizenship or appropriate Alien documentation
    • Must be able to complete & clear a Criminal & Sex Offender background check


    Physical Working Conditions

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
    • The employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
    • Work is performed in the outdoors with regular exposure to insects and wildlife; weather conditions prevalent at the time (i.e.: heat and humidity, rain and storms); and walking several miles a day at a brisk
    • Noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
