Aquatics Coordinator- Camp Misty Mountain


Job Summary

The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the aquatics program at camp.  S/he will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality programming are met in both pool and lake environments. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinating professional development exercise, safety drills and implementation of the camp-wide aquatic safety protocols. 
  • Train and supervise staff and campers in the areas of swimming, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, and windsurfing and must have a comfort level in operating motorboats.  


Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a supervisory/management role in a similar aquatic environment (or willingness to complete “Lifeguard Management” through the American Red Cross). 
  • Current Lifeguard certification, including CPR/FA, Bloodborne Pathogens, and use of an AED.  Certification, or ability to complete certification in Small Craft Safety or equivalent boating course.



  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to evaluate performance and give feedback
  • Ability to make observations and complete paperwork
  • Supervisory experience
  • Maturity in problem solving and decision making
  • First aid and CPR training
  • Provide proof of USA citizenship or appropriate Alien documentation
  • Must be able to complete & clear a Criminal & Sex Offender background check


Physical Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
  • The employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Work is performed in the outdoors with regular exposure to insects and wildlife; weather conditions prevalent at the time (i.e.: heat and humidity, rain and storms); and walking several miles a day at a brisk
  • Noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
