    Looking for a place to make a difference and spend your summer outside? Do you have a passion for summer camp, high adventure, crafts, outdoor skills, STEM or empowering girls, teens and young women then Camp Meriwether is for you! We have 270 wooded acres 40 miles right outside the Atlanta, Ga area. We are a true camp complete with a lake for canoe, kayak and paddleboards; archery; challenge course; zip line; giant swing; miles of hiking trails; arts and crafts facility; large swimming pool and climate controlled cabins and dining hall. During the summer we operate a premier residential camp for girls scouts in the k-12th grade.

    We are looking for dynamic young women to provide a top rate camping experience for your girls. All staff will live and work on camp starting the middle of May until the end of July. Staff will we assigned a group of girls weekly they are responsible for during group times and then will teach 5 activities of their interest during the day. In the evenings we have overnights for our day camp girls and one night a week is staff in-service. A typical day for staff begins a little before 7 am and wraps up around 10pm with campers in the cabin. Staff can expect 2-3 hours each evening and this changes based on evening program with the girls. Staff can expect to have Saturday’s off and Sunday mornings each week. Staff applying should have a willingness to do whatever it takes to ensure the girls have a fantastic time while at camp and be 100% girl focused while in your care!

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Participate in supervisor training prior to camp.
    • Be part of the leadership team.
    • Help plan and implement camp staff orientation and training for day camp with rest of leadership team.
    • Fourth in Command if Camp Director and Assistant Camp Directors are not on site or available to deal with issues that arise.
    • Create activity schedule for campers and staff in all areas of camp.
    • Work with activity coordinators to ensure high level program is happening.
    • Assist with behavior management that gets escalated to the office.
    • Organize camper sign up for activities throughout the week.
    • Manage supplies for activities.
    • Coordinate with Admin coordinator on procurement of supplies.
    • Coordinate after care with parents, campers and staff.
    • Observe Camptivities and participate briefly with them and coach as needed.
    • Coordinate Friday camp program with the rest of the camp leadership team.
    • With the leadership team and activity coordinator discuss areas of need for staff in-service/enrichment.
    • Conduct day camp staff meetings as needed.
    • Instruct at least one camptivity a day.
    • Be on duty as scheduled.
    • Alert Director Team of any potential problem situations.
    • Carry out other duties as designated by the full time Director.

    • Good communication skills

    • Maturity in problem solving and decision making
    • Live on site for 8-10 weeks during the summer
    • Preferred minimum age 21
    • First aid and CPR training
    • Must be able to complete & clear a MVR, Criminal & Sex Offender background check.


    Physical Working Conditions:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
    • The employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
    • Work is performed in the outdoors with regular exposure to insects and wildlife; weather conditions prevalent at the time (i.e.: heat and humidity, rain and storms); and walking several miles a day at a brisk.
    • Noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
